2011 Employee Benefits Legislative Update and Annual Meeting

The chapter 2 hour afternoon program was attended by a large group professionals wanting to learn more about the legislative changes impacting their profession. Based on survey responses the program speaker Sherry Brackney  was considered good/excellent based on a 5 point scale. All five categories, content of presentation, effectiveness of presentation, presenter knowledge and application to business all scored  above a 4 rating. 

 


HR Collaborative Social 

October 11, 2011

at the Hofbräuhaus

The chapter participated in a social event sponsored by the HR Collaborative. The HR Collaborative is a group of human resource focused organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area working collaboratively to expand educational opportunities to the community. the groups are listed below: 

  • Greater Cincinnati Human Resources Assn

  • Greater Cincinnati Compensation and Benefits Assn

  • National Human Resources Assn

  • Northern Kentucky SHRM

  • HR Group 100

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialists

  • Employers Health Coalition of Ohio

  • Greater Cincinnati American Society for Training & Development

  • Butler/Warren SHRM

  • HR Roundtable

  • Employers Resource Association

Over a 150 members of the above organizations had the opportunity to network. It was a good time for all. Become a member of the local chapter and enjoy the benefits of networking!


Department of Labor Strategic Enforcement Plan  What is their focus?

The chapter 2 hour morning program was attended by a large group professionals wanting to learn more about the department of labor. Based on survey responses the program speaker Sherry Brackney  was considered good/excellent based on a 5 point scale. All five categories, content of presentation, effectiveness of presentation, presenter knowledge and application to business all scored  above a 4 rating.

One Day Seminar

September 14, 2011

The chapter one day seminar was attended by a large group professionals wanting to learn more about employee benefits. Based on survey responses the program speakers were considered good/excellent based on a 5 point scale. All five categories, content of presentation, effectiveness of presentation, presenter knowledge and application to business all scored  above a 4 rating.

Member's Day at the Ball Park

August 31, 2011

The chapter social event was attended by a good number of chapter members. Fun was had by all. The Reds did not win against the Phillies, but chapter member and their guests enjoyed a fine summer night at Great American Ball Park. Look for future chapter social events to come in 2012.

Creating Successful Benefit Campaigns

March 22, 2011

The Cincinnati/Dayton Chapter cosponsored the program in conjunction with the Greater Cincinnati Compensation and Benefits Association. There were over 40 in attendance hearing how to provide effective communication campaigns. Local chapter members Hud Peters, Alan Calonge and John Kaising participated in a panel discussion. The local chapter looks forward to more collaborative programs with HR focused groups.

The International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists (ISCEBS) is the premier interactive community providing educational resources, innovative thinking and collective wisdom to help members excel and prosper in their careers. 

This membership organization is for those who have earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) and Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) designations.

Local Chapter members have access to variety of high quality educational programs and the opportunity to network with other local benefit professionals. This provides a unique opportunity to keep abreast of local trends in the employee benefits industry.   

Graduates of the CEBS program or those who hold the CMS, GBA or RPA designation, may join the International Society and the Local Chapter. If you would like  more information and/or to become a member, click Graduate Registration.  

If you are a CEBS student, you may join the local chapter.  Student members, click Student Registration  and complete the application or  bring a check for $40 to the next meeting.
